Bill ross trophy

Welcome to the 56th Bill Ross Trophy. The event is played at the Sundbyberg Curling Rink in Stockholm - home of Team Hasselborg, Team Wranå and Team Dryburgh, amongst others!


As this is the final event on the NCT for juniors, the Bill Ross trophy will play a deciding roll in the winner of the tour


All teams participating in this event is guaranteed  rankingpoints according to the NJCT rankingsystem.

The overall winners of the NJCT will get a spot and free entry to Oslo Cup 2025. 


Competition & registration

We are delighted to welcome you to the 56th Bill Ross Trophy in Sundbyberg, the final junior competition on the Nordic Curling Tour.


SYSTEM OF PLAY (JUNIOR WOMEN) 

5min practice before the start of the first game plus a 2 stone DSC for hammer in the first game. 

Thereafter, 2 stone DSC at the end of each game for hammer in the next game. 

During group play, games can end in a tie. If a game ends in a tie, the 2 stone DSC at the end of the game will also count as a DSC shootout.


3pts for a win 

2pts for a tie plus shootout win 

1pt for a tie plus shootout loss 

0pt for a loss. 


Ranking within the groups is based on: 

1. Points (Win / tie / loss) 

2. Head-to-head result 

3. DSC 


1st and 2nd place team in each group qualify for the semi-final. 


SYSTEM OF PLAY (JUNIOR MEN) 

5 min practice before the start of the first game plus a 2 stone DSC for hammer in the first game. 

Thereafter, a 2 stone DSC at the end of each game for hammer in the next game. 

During group play, games can end in a tie. If a game ends in a tie, the 2 stone DSC at the end of the game will also count as a shootout.

At the end of the group play, the 3 group winners qualify directly to the ¼ finals. The other 9 teams will be ranked in a joint table. The top ranked team in the joint table will also qualify directly to the ¼ finals. The remaining teams (5-12) will play in a tiebreaker round with the four winners qualifying for the ¼ finals. 


Ranking in groups will be based on: 

1. Points (win / loss / tie) 

2. Head-to-head result 

3. DSC

RULES & INFORMATION 

NUMBER OF ENDS: 

All group games are 8 ends and a 2 stone DSC shootout if the game is tied after 8 ends.

All playoff games are 8 ends and extra ends when necessary. 


SWEEPING: 

Sweeping: If we see a team “dumping” or “lifting” you will receive 1 warning and if you continue to do this, the umpire will remove any following stones that are observed breaking the sweeping rules by either dumping or lifting during the remainder of the competition. 


MEASURING: 

Please measure yourself together with the opposition but if you do need help, let one of the event officials know and we will of course help you! 


TIME: 

We will not be timing any games, but we ask you to aim for 15 mins per end, so we have time to re-surface the ice between each game. If you are playing slowly, we will give you a polite reminder! 


PLAYOFFS: 

The highest ranked team in each playoff game (including mens tiebreakers) will have choice of hammer or colour. 


STREAMING: 

We will stream all games from our stationary cameras on the Sundbyberg Curlinghall YouTube channel.

Entry fee: 4500 sek per team.

Transportation & accomodation

Travel

Closest major airport is Stockholm Arlanda, just 40 minutes away.

Arlanda express (train) or Flygbussarna (bus) to Stockholm city then the underground to "Duvbo" for the curling rink or "Näckrosen" for the hotel 2homehotel Solna.


If you're driving the address of the rink is Fredsgränd 2, 172 77 Sundbyberg: Google maps to the rink



Accomodation

There are a number of hotels in the local area but we recommend “2homehotel Solna” which is a 15min walk from the rink (or a 3min bus ride!) Each room has a small fridge and small kitchen where you can make lighter meals. Breakfast is included in the price.
